• The Dropcam website is free. If you are trying it out or viewing shared video (both live and recorded), it is free.

  When you buy a Dropcam, it comes with live viewing. Recording options start at $8.95 / month. There is no long-term contract. You can also learn more about Dropcam plans.

Dropcam Specifications

• Do I plug the Dropcam in? Does it use batteries?
• Dropcams come with a 10-foot power cord that goes into a standard AC outlet. It does not use or include batteries.
• Can I use the Dropcam outside?
• Dropcams are made for indoor operation. They are not guaranteed to work in outdoor settings in wet conditions or extreme temperatures.
• What comes in the Dropcam package?
• One Dropcam package comes with a Dropcam internet security camera, 14-foot Ethernet cable, 10-foot power cord, and mounting accessories.

Using the Website

• How do I share my camera with other people?

• After selecting and viewing a camera, you will see a button that says "Share Camera". Please click this button, enter an email address and a personal note, and send the invitation. Sharing is free.

  An email will go to the recipient which contains a message from Dropcam, your note, and a clickable link. The link allows the person to accept or decline the invitation.

  Under no circumstances will Dropcam email this person again on your behalf. Dropcam will not use their address unless they give permission by signing up for the website themselves.

• How do I stop sharing my camera with someone?
• After selecting and viewing a camera, you will see a button that says "Manage Sharing". Please click this button, and you will see a list of viewers and a button by each to block access. You may click this to block access.

Using a Dropcam

• What do the Dropcam LED colors mean? Why is my Dropcam blinking red?
• • solid green - online and securely streaming to Dropcam
  • blinking red - unable to find the base station or a working Internet connection

  During setup, the Dropcam LEDs will cycle to indicate its progress:

  1. yellow - power detected
  2. red - offline - beginning connection process
  3. yellow - Dropcam servers found - establishing connection
  4. green - setup complete - online and securely streaming to Dropcam
• How do I view my Dropcam?
• Because you created an account before buying a Dropcam, it should appear in your camera list. Please click on the camera name and you should be able to view it from the player.
• How do I turn my Dropcam off?
• Please unplug it.
• I want to move my Dropcam to a different room or location. What do I need to do?
• Please unplug the camera and move it to the new location. You do not need to set anything else up. As long as you are within range of your wireless router or are using a direct Internet connection you're ready to go!
• My Dropcam is not visible on the website. Why?
• Please make sure the Dropcam LED indicator is green. If not, you may be out of range of your router.
• It's still not visible!
• In this case, please connect the Dropcam directly to an Internet connection using an Ethernet cable and verify that this works. If not, please contact Dropcam directly at help@dropcam.com.
• Can I give my Dropcam to someone else?
• Yes, but you will need to contact Dropcam and verify the transfer.
